Your Retreat Hosts

Joe Lee, 500 RYT
Joe Lee spent four winters driving across the U.S. and Canada, snowboarding for months at a time in search of the best terrain and deepest snow. In 2017, a minor injury during one of those seasons led him to yoga as a way to recover and restore balance. What began as physical therapy soon evolved into a lifelong practice and teaching path. Joe is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance–certified instructor and Level 2 Urban Zen Integrative Therapist, with additional studies in anatomy, meditation, and restorative yoga. His classes weave functional movement, mindful breath, and a calm, grounding energy—helping students cultivate strength, ease, and presence both on and off the mat.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I have to be an experienced skier?
A: Not at all! From beginners to expert skiers, everyone is welcome. You may ski independently, with fellow retreat participants, or join a ski school class (optional add-on of only $80/day for ski school. Details provided after retreat registration.)

Q: Can I come alone?
A: Absolutely - please choose the "single" room option during registration. Many guests attend solo and leave with new lifelong friends.

Q: What if I - or a friend I'm bringing - doesn't ski or do yoga?
A: EVERYONE IS WELCOME! All activities are optional. If you don't plan to ski, please select the "non-skier" option when registering. If you change your mind during the retreat to ski, you may purchase lift tickets and rentals at Heavenly Ski Resort's current market rate.

Q: Where should I fly to?
A: Please fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO). Your retreat fee includes transportation to and from this airport.

Q: What if I want to have a car?
A: The Tahoe Ridge provides a complimentary shuttle to town and the Heavenly Ski Resort lifts. If you would like to rent a car, you may do so at your own cost and risk. Note: the resort is located on a mountain and may require all wheel drive or chains for access.

Q: Are ski rentals included?
A: Ski rentals are NOT included. We will share details after registration for discounted group rental options and arrange for transportation for fittings, pick up and drop off.

Q: What if I've never done yoga?
A: It's the perfect time to start. Classes are all optional and will be beginner friendly. Each day includes morning meditation and pre-ski yoga. Every afternoon will include a recovery class to unwind.

Q: Will you be able to accommodate food allergies or restrictions?
A: Yes. Please let us know your dietary restrictions when registering so that we can inform the venue of our needs. All meals will include a vegan option.

Q: Are alcoholic beverages available at meals?
A: We will host several apres-ski happy hours with drinks available and one special wine tasting event. Otherwise, you may purchase your own alcoholic beverages during meals from the bars and restaurants.

Q: What should I pack?
A: We will send out a packing list closer to the event. Expect cold mountain weather - typical daytime temperatures range from 33°F and 45°F and typical night temperatures range from 7°F to 23°F.

Q: What if I need to cancel?
A: Due to our group rate agreements with Tahoe Ridge Resort, Heavenly Ski Resort, and other vendors, cancellations are subject to the following policy:
-
Refunds: Available until January 22, 2026 minus a $500 cancellation feel and a $250 non-reundable administration fee per person.
-
Transfers: Booking are 100% transferable to another participant. Please provide the name of the participant when transferring.
-
After January 22, 2026, no refunds are available - NO EXCEPTIONS.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance for added protection.

Q: Am I required to purchase travel insurance?
A: It is NOT required, however, we strongly recommend it. Travel insurance protects your investment in the event of unexpected situations such as illness, injury, flight cancellations, weather delays, or family emergencies that might prevent you from attending the retreat or returning home as planned. Policies can include coverage for trip cancellation, trip interruption, and medical coverage while traveling.

Q: Will I have to sign a waiver?
A: Yes — a waiver will be sent to all participants before the retreat.
While we do everything we can to create a safe and supportive experience, participation in yoga, skiing, travel, and all related activities is at your own risk.
Awakened Yoga LLC cannot be held responsible for:

-

-

Q: What if the retreat must be cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances?
A: In the unlikely event that the retreat must be canceled or postponed due to circumstances beyond our control (such as severe weather, natural disasters, travel restriction or other Force Majeure events), Awakened Yoga LLC will make every effort to reschedule the retreat. If rescheduling is not possible, all payments received will be refunded less the $250 per person administrative fee.
