Being a Beginner Is Better

If you're new to yoga, it can look intimidating. Visions of nimble, pretzel like people bending into impossible shapes. BUT - yoga is so much more diverse and, at our studio, accessible to everyone. At it's core, we practice yoga for the physical benefits of a healthier and more mobile body free of aches and pains. We also practice yoga for the calming benefits of a mindful practice as well as the emotional and spiritual nourishment we get from focusing on our practice.

So why is a beginner better? There is a mindfulness concept known as Beginner's Mind - this is a Zen Buddhism teaching and refers to approaching situations with an attitude of openness and curiosity. "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, in the expert's mind there are few."

When you're a beginner, your mind is open to new possibilities, you'll see creative solutions and you are willing to ask for help.

Are you a beginner to yoga? That's the best place to be - we have a special class just for you coming up - it's our Flow 101 Workshop on January 11. You will learn the basics of poses, the names and which muscles to to use when. You will learn how to align your joints for safety and how to modify your practice for any injuries you are recovering from and then learn to connect everything with breath. This workshop also includes our two-week Trial Pass (two weeks of unlimited yoga classes!). Read more or sign up here.

We get it, yoga looks intimidating. We are here to help. You will find all levels of yoga classes on our schedule and we want to help you find the right one. Take on the Beginner's Mind and dive right in!
